If the US does not take action against Syria, then Iran will not believe the US really means it about not developing nuclear weapons, and that will lead to terrorists bombing South Carolina?
Oh, excuse me. I said "take action" when I should have said "respond". We are supposed to respond, to something that may or may not have happened, (and in which we don't want anyone to notice we were a contributing factor, mind) in a way to make it clear that the "response" we are offering (bombing somebody else's country) must not be done by anyone else. In other words, nobody better respond to our response with the same damn response!
And if we don't respond, they might respond to our non-response with a bombing response.
Okay I get it. But no wait it's still not right. We are worried that their bombing response to our non-bombing response will be nukes! We aren't responding or non-responding with nukes, we are responding or non-responding with non-nukes, to send a No Nukes Back From You, Evahr! message!
Oh this makes perfect sense.
Following along here?
Good. Because spin like what I just deconstructed is designed to put you right back to sleep. When you try to unpack the twisted logic of this pontification, you are meant to either lose interest, or figure the speaker is just leaving out the important bits because, yanno, you, the reader, are NOT an important talking head like heads of government are important.
Let's turn this on its head right now. Let's not lose the plot. Defense of freedom means keeping our wits awake and our minds clear and cutting through the bullshit when necessary.
